FAQ
- Question:
-
Is it true that Pepsi-Cola contains pepsin from the pig stomach
- Answer:
-
Pepsi-Cola does not contain pepsin from pigs, nor any other animal source. In fact, it does not contain any enzyme at all. The names (pepsi and pepsin) are closely related in writing and could have created such misunderstanding. Pepsi-Colas perceived function is to help digest food similar to that of pepsin; therefore, there is no correlation, and Pepsi-Cola in its current form does not have the enzyme pepsin. Here is the response from Pepsi-Cola Company:Thank you for taking the time to contact us here at the Pepsi-Cola Company and for inquiring about the ingredients in our beverages. We are pleased to inform you that none of the product ingredients we use in our soft drinks contain animal products or by-products of any kind. Pepsin is not and never has been used in our soft drinks. We hope that this information will assist you and that you will continue to enjoy our products with confidence. Once again, thank you for contacting us regarding this issue and allowing us an opportunity to set the record straight. Allah (S) knows best.
